As of 11:59pm Thursday May 27, the Victorian Government has enforced a state-wide lockdown until 11:59pm Thursday June 3. As such, we are restricted to emergency dental treatment only during this period.

We will remain open however, are only able to treat urgent emergency patients who are experiencing the following:
- facial swelling
- intra-oral swelling
- facial trauma
- dental trauma
- significant/constant/uncontrollable pain

For those who have an upcoming appointment during this lockdown period, our reception staff will be in touch with you to reschedule your visit.

We have great news! Following yesterday's update from the Government, dental restrictions have been lifted sooner than expected and we are officially back to level 1 restrictions! 

The situation in Victoria is understandably fluid and as we continue to follow the advice from the Victorian Government and Australian Dental Association, we will keep you up to date on any changes and announcements in relation to dental care.

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff remain our highest priority and our team continues to uphold the highest infection control and hygiene standards. As you may already know, we have several protection measures already in place to keep our team and much-loved patients safe and for your peace of mind.

We have great news! Following yesterday's update from the Government, dental restrictions have been lifted sooner than expected and we are officially back to level 1 restrictions! 

• Entry screening
  All patients are required to complete our online COVID-19 declaration form prior to their appointment, which includes questions regarding whether you are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to see patients who answer yes to any of these questions.
• Temperature checks
  Temperature checks are conducted for all staff and patients that enter the practice each day.
• Hand sanitiser stations
  Hand sanitiser is readily available throughout the practice for patients and staff. We kindly ask that all patients sanitise their hands upon entry into the practice. All of our staff are fully trained in the highest infection control and hygiene standards and are required wash and sanitise their hands at regular intervals.
• Pre-treatment mouth rinse
  This is offered to every patient before starting their dental procedures.
• Cleaning protocols
  In our surgery rooms, we perform a full wipe down and sanitisation procedures on every surface before and after each patient. In addition, all frequently touched surfaces throughout the practice are sanitised every hour and all waiting room magazines and other non-essential items have been temporarily removed.
• Physical distancing measures
  Our waiting room is currently limited to 4 people only. If you require a friend or family member to accompany you to your appointment, we kindly request you only bring one person.
• Alternative waiting area
  If you prefer not to sit in the waiting room, you can wait in your car and we will give you a call as soon as we are ready to see you. Just let us know when you have arrived so we can check you in.
• Virtual consultations
  We continue to offer complimentary Teledental consultations for patients who prefer to speak to a dentist from the comfort of their home.

We have great news!

As of Monday 27 April, the Australian Government has eased restrictions for dental treatment to level 2! This means we can now provide a wider range of dental services in addition to emergency procedures. Over the next few weeks, we will be working hard to get in touch with our patients who have had to reschedule their appointments due to Covid-19.

Although restrictions have been eased, our team continues to observe strict additional infection control protocols to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and our wider community. Complimentary teledental consults are also still available to all of our patients to help guide and answer any questions that they may have.

Our thoughts are with the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and we commend the healthcare workers around the world who are on the front line working to contain COVID-19 Coronavirus.

As you may have heard the Victorian Government is planning to implement a shutdown of all non-essential activity over the next 24 hours and we are currently working through what this means for our practice and our patients.

In the meantime, our clinic will be open and here to help you with any of your dental needs. We have previously been advised by the Federal Government that dentistry is considered an "Essential Service".

Our clinic continues to follow guidelines provided by the Government, Australian Dental Authority and local health authorities to protect the health and well-being of our patients and staff.

Thank you for your understanding, we will ensure to keep you updated. In the meantime please continue to practice social distancing, keep safe and be kind to one another.

Fine Smiles Dental want to lend our sympathy to those affected by COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Our practice has and always will strive to keep our patients and staff healthy by continuing to offer high quality dental care during our regular opening hours. At this time, we have no plans to restrict our hours or services. We also want to update you on the precautionary measures we have taken to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff:

• Cleanliness
  We have a stringent hand washing routine and glove use policy along with our usual and thorough OH&S compliant standards, we are taking additional measures to keep our patients healthy and free of concern.
  Cleaning stations are readily used by our team to ensure frequent and thorough hand-washing. Hand sanitation stations have been set up throughout the clinic.
• Health & Safety
  All Fine Smiles Dental team members are being screened for increased body temperatures daily.
  We will also be screening every patient for fever/increased temperatures.
• When to reschedule
  In an effort to remain open during normal hours, and to keep our staff healthy and do our part in helping to stall the spread of COVID-19, we kindly ask any patients who are currently experiencing the following symptoms to call and reschedule their appointments: Fever / Cough / Shortness of Breath / Chills
• Additionally please contact us to reschedule your appointment if
  You have returned from overseas in the last 14 days or,
  Have been in close contact with anyone who has travelled in the last 14 days that has been confirmed to have Coronavirus
• Emergencies (for those who have symptoms)
  If you are experiencing any of the above listed symptoms, and need emergency dental care, please visit your local GP as they are better equipped to serve you while also helping to contain the COVID-19 virus.
  Alternatively, you can contact the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM) on 03 9341 1000.
• Updates
  We are closely monitoring updates from the ADA (Australian Dental Association) to ensure we're prepared and taking necessary precautions to address this evolving situation as the health and safety of our patients and our staff is our top priority.
